Kerfuffle @ Smart Bitches...Grab the popcorn

Now, I know this may come as a shock to readers, but Sarah over at SmartBitches TrashyBooks on occasion posts cover snark. *Oh noes! The horror! Why, we would never do such a thing!*

Of course, the attack poodle signal was lit.

Grab some popcorn. This is going to be fun.

Cersorship, Hypocrisy, Paypal & Hitler

So Dear Author does a regular post about industry news and a kerfuffle about porn, censorship, and hypocrisy breaks out. (Hitler is just a kerfuffle bingo. It never fails that when a kerfuffle breaks out someone always pulls out the 'my [insert family member here] is a lawyer and says you can sue for libel' or Hitler.)

Now, the Erinyes have definite views on the whole shebang, but we are going to let it play out a bit before we step on our soapbox. Still, the post is great and the comments are (for the most part) incredibly interesting.

Authors vs. Readers vs. Reviewers...

Apparently, 2012 was rung in with a whole slew of angry-author / negative-review drama. We read about a lot of it. I thought about posting my thoughts on it here. But the more I thought about it, the more I just wanted a nap. So we have a bit of snarky-linky-witty-goodness instead.

Kudos, Ms. Brook.

Breaking News...

Hmmmmm....Jennifer Crusie's blog post.

In case you're too lazy to click, I just 'learned' that Sarah Wendell (Smart Bitches, Trash Books) eats pie at business meetings. There is even a mention of cheesecake. Now, I don't know about you but I'm stunned. STUNNED, I tell you. I now question Ms. Wendell's integrity as a reviewer. After all, what if she eats cheesecake then goes on to read and review a book? She'd be under the influence of creamy goodness while reading. She might actually think that glowing vampires are perfectly acceptable all because of the sugar high. I demand, DEMAND, full disclosure of Ms. Wendell's dessert habits.
